Summer School 2021

During the sixth week of the summer holidays, 18 Year 6 students attended the Summer School held at North Gosforth Academy for our upcoming Year 7. The children participated in a variety of enrichment activities which offered unique access to the wider curriculum. The activities aimed to ease the transition from Year 6 to Year 7 by providing experiences designed to build confidence, to foster unity, and to familiarise students with the school site and key staff. Throughout the week, children took part in baking with Mrs Wilkinson, Art projects with Miss Skilton, Spanish with Mrs Storey, fitness with Mr Clark and daily transition workshops by Miss Ritchie. Staff from Newcastle United Foundation Club were also on hand to provide sessions on football practise, team building and even a graffiti masterclass!

After a thoroughly enjoyable week, children reported that they felt more equipped with coming up to North Gosforth Academy, and were looking forward to starting their new journey.

The cost for Summer School was funded by the Government’s Catch up for School’s programme.
