The Travel and Tourism curriculum is designed to ensure that students gain a theoretical understanding of the Travel and Tourism industry.
In the first year, students will cover a range of topics relating to both the UK Travel and Tourism industry as well as the International Travel and Tourism industry. These topics include planning holidays and itineraries, exploring effective customer service in a travel and tourism setting and managing the customer’s experience. The first year will contain coursework only assignments which will be completed independently. There are three assignments for each unit covered and they will develop the theoretical understanding leading up to the exam in the second year.
In the second year, students will cover the final topics needed for exam preparation on the UK Travel and Tourism sector. To aid this learning students will visit local attractions to determine why different customer types visit these areas for example, The Alnwick Gardens. From this, and after completing their exam, they will go onto their final coursework topic which is how the Travel and Tourism industry has developed over time.
