This week, students have been learning about Day of the Dead traditions. Some year 7 & 8 students created a replica of a traditional Mexican Ofrenda (a shrine) that is a custom during the celebration. These Ofrendas are seen in Mexican houses and are a way of remembering family members and ancestors who have passed away. Students created paper candles and flowers to decorate the ofrenda and we dedicated it to Spanish speaking celebrities from the past. All student lessons in Spanish this week will have the festival as a focus, and there are lots of activities and competitions around the school to get involved in during social times. The raffle took place at lunch time in the refectory, where some of our students drew names. View PostReward Trip to St James' Park Today, thirty Year 7 students were treated to an unforgettable experience at St James' Park, a reward for their excellent attendance and behaviour this term! The group enjoyed a full stadium tour, including a visit to the dressing room where they saw the players' Champions League shirts, and even got to walk out of the tunnel onto the pitch - just like the team, with the local hero anthem playing!
