At North Gosforth Academy, our mission is to inspire excellence in every student, academically, personally, and socially. We believe that every young person deserves the opportunity to thrive in a supportive and ambitious environment, where their potential is recognised and nurtured.
We are proud to be a member of Gosforth Group, a family of schools united by a shared commitment to excellence, collaboration, and 'Creating Futures'. This partnership strengthens our ability to deliver a high-quality education and ensures our students benefit from a wider network of expertise, opportunity, and support.
Year 9 have entered the "Mother tongue, Other tongue" poetry/creative writing competition for the North East festival of languages. Students completed either a "black out poem" where they chose words from a passage of text that they felt related best to the topic of the writing. Other students chose to write a poem or piece of writing in their own language if they spoke one at home. Students have been incredibly engaged and have worked really hard on their entries. #gosforthgroup #northgosforthacademy #NorthEastFestivalOfLanguages #StudentCreativity #creatingfutures
View PostFestival of Languages Highlight! Our amazing Year 8 students have been exploring Spanish cuisine this week as part of the Festival of Languages! They've been busy translating traditional paella recipes, working out ingredients, and using their Spanish skills to understand each step of the cooking process. They have tackled the language challenge brilliantly and taken their translated recipes home to cook paella with their families. We can't wait to hear how their dishes turned out! #LanguageLearning #ModernLanguages #CookingAtHome #FamilyLearning #CulturalLearning #northgosforthacademy #gosforthgroup #creatingfutures
View PostCulture Week Creativity This week, our pupils in Years 7, 8, 9 and 10 have taken part in a beautiful Culture Week project celebrating friendship, languages and global community. Students created origami butterflies, each carrying a handwritten message of friendship in a different language. These butterflies will soon take flight to the Newcastle Civic Centre, where they'll form part of a public exhibition in April. Our pupils have shown fantastic creativity, teamwork and cultural appreciation, we can't wait to see their hard work proudly on display! #northgosforthacademy #gosforthgroup #CreatingFutures #StudentCreativity #GlobalFriendship #LanguagesMatter #ProudSchool #CelebratingCulture

View PostYear 10 Take On the Anthea Bell Translation Prize! Last week, our Year 10 Spanish students worked hard to compete in a national translation competition called the Anthea Bell Translation Prize for young translators. They each had to translate a passage of text from a book as creatively as they could and decorate their entries. The top 5 entries were sent off to be judged, and we will hear back at the end of May about the results. Good luck to all our amazing Year 10 students who, every lesson, consistently work incredibly hard. #AntheaBellPrize #CreativeTranslators #SpanishLearning #NorthGosforthAcademy #GosforthGroup #CreatingFutures
