On Friday, we were pleased to welcome Paul Hannaford to North Gosforth Academy, who delivered ageappropriate KS3 assemblies sharing his powerful personal story. Paul spoke openly about his involvement with drugs and gangs and the longlasting consequences these choices had on his life. Hearing real experiences helps young people to better understand the risks they may face and how decisions made at a young age can affect their future. At North Gosforth Academy, we are committed to working in partnership with families to ensure students are supported, informed, and empowered to make positive choices, both now and as they move forward in life. Spanish Penpal Responses Received Our Year 7 students are continuing their international project this week. They were very excited to receive letters back from their pen pals in a school in Zaragoza in Spain. Students learned about the similarities and differences between their school lives and created posters to put on display in our department. Our Cultural Week Butterflies Are On Display The butterflies we created for our Cultural Week project have been safely delivered and are now proudly on display at the Civic Centre in Newcastle. Newcastle University have congratulated all of our students for their brilliant effort, participation and entries into the project, and we couldn't be prouder. Poetry Stars Our brilliant Year 9 students entered a poetry writing competition as part of our culture week with Newcastle University. The Mother Tongue, Other Tongue competition saw our students write in either Spanish or their own language and decorate their poems ready for entry. Well done to Ariya, Amaya, Ava, Olivia, Aaron, Jake, Fearne & Lillie, who were awarded a certificate from the university for a brilliant entry into the competition. Congratulations.
