Schools are required to undertake consultation every 7 year period even where no changes are required. Several Gosforth Group schools have reached this milestone for the entry in 2023 Admissions Policy. We have decided to harmonise arrangements and complete this activity for all our schools this autumn.
The law expects schools and academies to bring their consultation to the attention of:
- parents of children between the ages of two and eighteen
- other persons in the area who have an interest in the proposed arrangements
- all other schools and academies within the local area
- the local authority
- any neighbouring local authorities
- relevant faith bodies
The consultation process allows any concerns about changes to be raised.
It is taking place for 6 weeks starting on 1st October 2021 and closing on Friday 19th November 2021.
At the end of the consultation period, decisions may be made based on the responses and the arrangements will be 'determined' by Trustees.
The admission arrangements must be determined by 28 February 2022 and published by 15 March 2022.
The only proposed change which already applies to all our admission policies is:
Admissions addendum May 2021
Statutory Changes to the School Admissions Code – with effect from 1 September 2021
The Government has launched an updated version of the School Admissions Code which effective from 1 September 2021.
As previously, all children whose Education, Health and Care Plan names the school must be admitted.
